Last Weekend of School Holidays July 2011

Can't think of what to do in SA on the weekend? Every Friday we'll provide you with a "Friday Fantastic" idea!

Last Weekend of School Holidays

It's the last weekend of the school holidays.  This weekend is the perfect time for families to go out and have some fun!

I am certain that you can come up with some fantastic ideas to do with you kids, such as visit your local shopping mall, or perhaps take a wonder down Rundle Mall.

Why not take a stroll along a chilly beach?  Brrrr!  Dare your kids to jump into the ocean!  Have an icecream down the Glenelg Jetty.  Go fishing off Largs Bay.

(the Adelaide & South Australia blog makes no suggestion to chill your children by the beach.  No responsibility will be taken for colds or flus)

*ahem* Perhaps stay in the car and drive along the beachside and dream of summer.  Then take the kids home for a mug-load of hot milo with marshmellows and play Monopoly all weekend.

Whatever you do, we'd love to know about it!

What do you have planned for your weekend?

Winter Farmers Market

Can't think of what to do in SA on the weekend? Every Friday we'll provide you with a "Friday Fantastic" idea!

Riverland Farmers Market

Paul Prescott from Dreamstime.com
Ever been to a farmer's market?  Yeah, they're fantastic aren't they!

No?!  Well, you'd might like to take a trip to the Riverland.

Every Saturday sees the Riverland Farmers Market at the Senior Citizens Hall on Crawford Terrace in Berri.

The farmers market offers all sorts of great foods, fresh from the cows/paddocks/vineyards, with all the excellent produce sourced direct from Riverland farms.

If you've never experienced an Aussie Country Market experience, then it's about time you gave it a go!

So, if you had fast food for tea last night, then your body will thank you for a little trip to the markets.

Whatever you do, be sure to let us know how your weekend went!

2011 Girlfriend Rimmel Model Search

Can't think of things to do in Adelaide on the weekend? Every Friday we'll provide you with a "Friday Fantastic" idea!

2011 Girlfriend Rimmel Model Search

The 21st annual Girlfriend Rimmel Model Search is on this weekend at Westfield Marion shopping centre.

Now, if you are a teenage girl aged 13 or older, then this is the weekend for you.  If you've ever wanted to give modelling a go, then rock up and give it a crack!  You get a free goodie bag for entering as well, full of makeup and other goodies!  The winner gets two modelling contracts for two years.  There are also plenty of awards that you can be in the running for, (eg. future talent/entertainer award).  So, if you attend, let your personality shine!  Perhaps tell te judges some jokes.  This one may help you:

A man walks into a fish and chip shop with a fish under his arm.

He asks "Do you have any Fish cakes?"

"Yes, of course!" says the owner.

"Great!" replies the man, nodding at the fish under his arm "Because its's his birthday!"

So....

Saturday, the 9th of July will see the girls lining up in their droves and strutting their stuff down the catwalk.

Have a listen to the organiser themselves below.

Visit the Girlfriend website for more information on this event.

Whatever you do, be sure to let us know how your weekend went!

Swimming in Winter

Can't think of what to do in Adelaide on the weekend? Every Friday we'll provide you with a "Friday Fantastic" idea!

Like Swimming? Too cold to swim yourself?  Then this weekend is perfect for you!

The 2011 Australian Short Course Championships

The championships are on at the SA Aquatic and Leisure Centre from 1st of July to the 3rd.  If you're anything like us, you miss Summer.  Heading out to Oaklands Park for the meet may bring back memories of swimming down the bay on a warm summer's day.  Still, don't lose yourself in your imagination.  We suggest leaving you bathers at home, leave the budgie smugglers to the professionals.

So if you've always sat around the telly watching swimming during The Olympics or Commonwealth games, why not do something different and see it live!  You can find out more at Swimming Australia.

Whatever you do, be sure to let us know how your weekend went!
